One of the problems with burning DVD’s is that if you don’t copy the disc using the correct format, you may not be able to watch it on your TV’s DVD player. I found this out the hard way.  Turns out there really is a difference between DVD-R and DVD+R.

A friend had given me a DVD and asked me to burn 10 copies (don’t worry, she owned the rights to the content so making extra copies for her was legit). The DVD she gave me was on a DVD-R. This worked perfectly well on my Magnavox MSD125. Unfortunately, I only had DVD+R’s on hand so I copied the original to DVD+R. While it worked beautifully on my computer, when I tried to play it on my TV’s DVD player, it wouldn’t autoplay.  Even clicking on the tabs on the onscreen menu wouldn’t play the disc.
