Matt Cutts Blogs About Google Backlinks

The Google Webmaster console now lets you see most, although not all, from the inbound links to your website. Matt Cutts who is the Google guru on back-links and SEO has acknowledged that The search engines do not show 100% on the back-links but implies that the number of links so it does show is expected to grow in the next nearly a year. That is about as specific as they gets.

If you want to your Google Webmaster console you can probably see more links to your site, maybe as many as 10 times more links, then you’ll see with all the link: command for the Google search page. Again, no real explanation of why that may be so.

You can even download your Google backlinks in the great CSV format if you wish to slice and dice them in any way.

Perhaps the most important little bit of information that him and i get from Matt Cutts on his blog is that even if you observe a one way link from Google that is not to mean that back link is carrying any weight with Google. He emphasized that time bold letters two separate times but failed to give you a scintilla of data of why some backlinks carry weight with Google plus some do not.

It really is unfortunate that Matt Cutts didn’t explain much more about the value of a inbound link because even an easy explanation would probably save the majority of us hours and hours of your energy but not an inconsiderable sum of money if we knew beforehand whether or not we’d be wasting our efforts with any particular aspect of our backlinks strategy.
